What is the Sir Bean Postcard Adventure?

The Sir Bean Postcard Adventure is an ongoing project where I, JP, the creator and artist behind Sir Bean the Sloth, draws little doodles and hand-writes little messages on recycled postcards. I then hide them all over in all of the cities and towns that I travel to!

So far I have hand-drawn and written over 350 postcards hidden all across cities in the United States, and now reaching the UK!

Where it all began...

In the Summer of 2024, I had just moved to a new town, unsure of where my life was going. On a walk to clear my head one morning, I stumbled upon a little quilted heart hanging on a bush branch. It had a tag with a code that led me to a page for something called the "I Found A Quilted Heart" campaign–a international project where people can make quilted hearts out of cloth scraps and hide them around to brighten someone's day.

The comfort and joy this small heart brought me in a difficult time of my life inspired me to spread joy in the same way. To make something that can bring people a bit of sunshine and comfort like this heart did for me.

I took a free postcard from a local coffee shop and doodled a little Sir Bean image on it, wrote a little note, and hid it.

I didn't expect I would hear about what happened to the postcard, but I was happy knowing it would fall into the right hands when it needed to. About two weeks later, I was surprised to find a message in my DMs, someone had found my card and had reached out to me, explaining that she was on a journey of her own, and finding the postcard grounded her and made her feel more confident on the journey she was on.

That single message warmed my heart more than I could have imagined. If a small craft could bring people this warmth, I wanted to do it as much as I could. So began the Postcard Project.
